Before slide sandals it is hard to imagine what the world was like. This omnipresent, practical shoe has helped to keep us from wiping out on pool decks, it’s protected us from those not so pleasant looking college dorm showers, and it’s simple to slip on when the pooch decides it needs to go out do its needs in the middle of a rainstorm.

Despite its ubiquity, slides are relatively young, gaining wide adoption during the early 1970s as they were used to protect the soles of German soccer players.
