Our #SSForEveryone campaign this week features owner of Heningburg's Pressure Washing LLC, Darren Heningburg.
Heningburg began working for himself a few years ago. After working so many jobs such as restaurants, UPS, book stores, and other odd jobs, he decided to start his own company. He felt that he had given so much of his time and energy to the employers he worked for. Always striving to be the best on the field, he gave his all to any job with endless hours which grew tiring. It was then that he considered opening his own business to channel that same dedication and effort. Once he realized this, he decided to bet on himself and see what he was capable of accomplishing for himself. 7 years later, he operates one of the leading pressure washing companies on the Gulf Coast.
His story and how he got started with his business are often laughed at. At one point, he wasn't sure what he was doing. The idea of starting a pressure washing company came from seeing an old boss's machine that was never used, so he bought it from him. He left it at his mother's house for a few weeks after buying it. One faithful day, he decided to play around with it and power wash his mother's house. He broke some windows and removed some paint from the house in the process. Unlike those who would be scared after experiencing power washing for the first time, Heningburg thought it was cool. He then decided that he wanted to see how far he could go, so he offered to power wash all of his immediate family's houses. A few weeks later, he landed his first client, who was his aunt's neighbor.
As Heningburg recalls, it's amazing to see how far the business has come. Those humble days toting ladders and machines in the back of a Toyota Camry have become three trucks and trailers today. Heningburg's Pressure Washing and Secret Scientist have much in common, starting with operating out of cars and quickly growing to be the top businesses in Mobile, which is why #SSIsForEveryone.
